Serena Williams has booked her spot in the second round of Wimbledon with a 6-1 6-3 victory over Mandy Minella on Tuesday.
The defending champion took control of the opening set at 2-1, breaking before holding her next service game to move into a 4-1 lead.
Williams's power continued to prove too much for Minella as another break of serve allowed the American the chance to serve for the first set after just 21 minutes of tennis.
Minella did manage to secure an early break in the second set to move into a 2-0 lead, but back-to-back breaks from Williams allowed the American to take control once more.
Minella did manage to hold her next service game, but another break at 3-5 allowed Williams to breeze into the second round in London.
