Team GB have recorded a 13-7 defeat against the United States, despite a strong effort in the preliminary match.
The United States took full advantage in the first quarter of the contest and grabbed the breakthrough courtesy of Tony Azavedo, who went on to score three in quick succession, putting the Brits under early pressure.
The Americans added two more to their lead but the Brits saved their blushes in the second quarter by matching their opponents with three goals apiece courtesy of Rob Parker and Ciaran James, which took them into half-time at 8-3 down.
Azavedo extended the USA's lead within seconds of the third quarter with an extra player shot but GB responded swiftly through Jake Vincent, who scored with a long-distance shot to make the score 9-4 in the USA's favour.
The Americans came back through Peter Varellas but a last-gasp effort from Craig Figes took the score to 10-6 with one quarter to go.
Despite a positive performance, GB didn't have enough to cause an upset and relinquished victory by 13-7.
