Kim Un Guk has won gold in the 62kg weightlifting category after breaking the world record in a dramatic final at the ExCel centre.
The North Korean was leading the final ahead of the clean and jerk category thanks to an Olympic record 153 in the snatch.
A combined weight of 327 kg was enough to secure the title for the 23-year-old and he was able to celebrate in front of a excited crowd in London.
Un Guk's closest challengers for much of the competition were Oscar Albeiro Figueroa of Colombia and Zhang Jie of China but neither were able to lift a weight able to contest the gold medal.
Figueroa did manage to break the Olympic record in the clean and jerk to move into the silver medal position and Jie failed in his final two attempts to record a weight, gifting bronze to Indonesia's Eko Yuli Irawan.
