Great Britain short track speed skater John Eley says that he hopes the travelling party have done the nation "proud".

Short track speed skater John Eley has said that he hopes the Great Britain team have made the nation feel "proud".

Team GB have collected four medals over the course of the Games, equalling their best ever tally, and Eley told BBC Sport that members of the side spoke at the opening ceremony about creating a "winning team".

He said: "We had a little get together before the opening ceremony and there was talk we have a real winning team and hopefully people at home say we have done them proud."

Eley was the flagbearer for Great Britain at the opening ceremony, and ahead of tomorrow's closing ceremony, the 29-year-old reflected on the "shock" of being told prior to the Games.

"To get out there and lead the country was a real honour," he said.

"It was a shock to be chosen and came a couple of days before the opening ceremony. My heart was going a bit when I was told."

Lizzy Yarnold will carry the flag for Team GB at the closing ceremony tomorrow, after winning gold in the women's skeleton event.
