Team GB's Billy Morgan says that securing qualification for the snowboard slopestyle semi-finals in Sochi was "a lot of fun".

Great Britain's Billy Morgan has stated that it was "pretty cool" to be the first athlete to compete at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Morgan was given bib number one prior to the start of the snowboard slopestyle qualifying event on Thursday - the first day of competition in Sochi - resulting in him being the first person to tackle the slope.

Instead of feeling pressure, 24-year-old Morgan said that he enjoyed the experience.

He told TeamGB.com: "It was pretty cool, I didn't realise [that I was first] until one of the other athletes told me at the top. It was pretty cool. I didn't think about it until the last minute. I had fun and it was really good.

"The course is fine. There are always changes to be made but they sorted that out. The jumps are good and fast and fun. I was happy. I messed my first run up a bit but my second run was solid. I could clean it up a bit."

Morgan finished in sixth position in his heat, meaning that he qualifies for Sunday's semi-final.

His Team GB teammate Jamie Nicholls ended two places higher, automatically securing a place in the final.
