The organisers of the Sochi Winter Olympics 2014 have insisted that there are no plans to import snow into the Games, despite the rising temperatures over the last couple of days.

A spokesman for the IOC said that the temperatures were not a problem, and now the deputy competition manager for the freestyle skiing and snowboarding venue Extreme Park has said that at the moment conditions are just about manageable.

"The conditions have been difficult for the last eight days," Oleg Kitov told Reuters. "Before that, it was a mixture of natural and artificial snow, now it's more like a granular snow on the surface.

"There is no plan to bring in more snow, but we will see what happens. Every morning it is quite safe, but our concern now is mostly about [warm temperatures in] the daytime."

There have also been complaints from some athletes about the condition of the half-pipe.
