The worker struck by a speeding bobsleigh yesterday at the Sochi Winter Olympics has undergone surgery and is conscious and in a stable condition, according to reports.
An empty forerunner sleigh crashed into the worker at the Sanki Sliding Center while he was carrying out maintenance work, which led to him suffering two broken legs and concussion.
Training for the two-man bobsleigh event was delayed for half-an-hour as the worker was tended to and eventually airlifted to hospital.
Sochi organising committee spokeswoman Alexandra Kosterina told reporters earlier today that the injured worker is Russian. She is also reported to have said that the operation went "successfully" and that "he's conscious, he's stable and he's good right now".
IOC spokesman Mark Adams said in a statement: "We all wish him a speedy recovery."
