The Miami Dolphins slump to a third consecutive defeat, losing 27-14 to AFC East rivals the New York Jets in their International Series match at Wembley.

The New York Jets have condemned the Miami Dolphins to their third straight defeat in the NFL this season, running out 27-14 winners over their AFC East rivals at Wembley.

The Dolphins, who participated in the first ever International Series match back in 2007, made a slow start to proceedings in London and quickly found themselves behind to the opening touchdown of the afternoon.

Chris Ivory's three-yard score was allowed to stand after a review ruled that he had just about stretched into the endzone before the ball was dislodged.

Ryan Fitzpatrick and Brandon Marshall had combined for a 58-yard play earlier in that drive, and the same duo helped the Jets deep into Miami territory again shortly afterwards.

However, this time they were forced to settle for three points as Nick Folk knocked over a field goal, and he added another kick in the second quarter to extend his side's advantage further still.

Joe Philbin's side finally got themselves on the scoreboard midway through the second quarter when two consecutive pass-interference penalties helped them into the redzone, where Ryan Tannehill floated a pass over the top for Jake Stoneburner.

That was a rare highlight in an otherwise disappointing first-half display from the designated hosts, though, and the 13-point gap was restored by the time they went in for the break courtesy of Eric Decker's 10-yard score from a Fitzpatrick pass.

Things got even better for the Jets - appearing at Wembley for the first time - as they added another touchdown early in the third quarter through Zac Stacy's two-yard rush.

Miami did raise hopes of a fourth-quarter fightback when Tannehill found Kenny Stills with a 10-yard pass into the endzone to reduce the deficit back to 13 with 10 minutes still to play.

They thought that they had got right back into it when Tannehill then picked out a wide-open Jarvis Landry in the endzone, but the touchdown was ruled out for offensive pass interference.

Despite being camped inside the redzone and twice going for the touchdown on fourth down, the Dolphins could not find the score and eventually saw their pressure come to nothing when Darrelle Revis intercepted the ball in his own endzone.

Philbin's side had one last chance to get a score back in the closing stages of the match, but this time it was Marcus Williams who made the endzone interception to seal the victory for the Jets.

The result sees Todd Bowles's side move to 3-1 for the season, while Miami continue to prop up the AFC East on 1-3.
