Sports Mole previews Sunday's Women's Super League clash between Arsenal Women and West Ham United Women, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Arsenal Women will look to maintain their 100% record in the Women's Super League when they play host to fellow London side West Ham United Women on Sunday.

The visitors, meanwhile, will attempt to claim a third consecutive league victory after beating Aston Villa and Reading in their previous two games.

Match preview

Arsenal are currently level on points with Manchester United and Chelsea at the top of the WSL table after winning their opening four league games.

While Chelsea have played one game more, Arsenal and Man United are the only two sides who still have a 100% record in the top-flight, while both teams are also yet to concede a single league goal this season.

As well as beginning their league campaign in fine form, Arsenal have made a statement in their opening two Champions League group games.

After beating reigning European champions Lyon in their group opener, the Gunners claimed another victory on matchday two when they beat FC Zurich 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium.

Jonas Eidevall's side will now look to continue their fine form on Sunday as they bid to record a seventh consecutive victory in all competitions.

While Arsenal sit in top spot ahead of Sunday's contest, West Ham are only three points adrift in fifth place after winning three of their five league games.

The Hammers began the season with a narrow 1-0 victory over Everton, but they failed to build upon that result, losing to Man United and Chelsea in their next two matches.

However, West Ham have bounced back in their previous two league games, beating Aston Villa 2-1 before claiming a 3-2 win over Reading last weekend.

Paul Konchesky's side raced into a three-goal lead against the Royals thanks to Dagny Brynjarsdottir's opener and Viviane Asseyi's brace, and although Reading scored two late goals, the Hammers held firm to clinch all three points.

West Ham may have scored in four of their five league games this term, but they face a tough task to break through an Arsenal defence that has kept 10 consecutive clean sheets in the league since beating Birmingham City 4-2 in March.

Team News

Arsenal are still expected to be without the services of defenders Leah Williamson and Rafaelle due to injury issues.

Eidevell could make a number of changes after rotating his squad in midweek, with the likes of Manuela Zinsberger and Lia Walti set to return to the starting lineup.

Catlin Foord and Stina Blackstenius are also expected to come back into the side to feature in a front three alongside Beth Mead.

As for the visitors, they are unable to call upon Grace Garrad, Maisy Barker and Jess Ziu, while Hawa Cissoko is suspended for Saturday's contest.

With Lucy Parker also likely to be unavailable, Kate Longhurst is expected to keep her place in central defence alongside Grace Fisk.

After scoring a brace against Reading, Asseyi will continue to lead the line for West Ham, and she could be joined in the forward line by Lisa Evans and Thea Kyvag.

Arsenal Women possible starting lineup:
Zinsberger; Wienroither, Wubben-Moy, Catley, McCabe; Little, Walti, Maanum; Mead, Foord, Blackstenius

West Ham United Women possible starting lineup:
Arnold; Shimizu, Fisk, Longhurst, Smith; Brynjarsdottir, Filis, Hayashi; Evans, Kyvag, Asseyi

We say: Arsenal Women 2-0 West Ham United Women

With West Ham in fine form, we think that they will be competitive against the Gunners, but ultimately, we think the hosts will earn all three points to continue their winning run.
