Arsenal team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Burnley

Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash with Burnley.
Sports Mole

Still boasting a perfect Premier League record in 2024, Arsenal make the trip to Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon, where the challenge of Burnley will await them.

The Gunners marched to their biggest Premier League away win to date against West Ham United last Sunday, demolishing their London rivals 6-0 at the London Stadium.

Arsenal's record-breaking success made no difference to their third-placed ranking in the table or two-point disadvantage to Liverpool, but they are now only behind Manchester City on goals scored.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Arsenal's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the showdown with the Clarets, who fell to a 3-1 loss against Liverpool last weekend.

Emile Smith Rowe

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Burnley)

The unfortunate Emile Smith Rowe could not contribute to the crushing of West Ham after rolling his ankle in training, but he is not expected to be out for the long-term and might be in with a chance of returning this weekend.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Calf
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Burnley)

After coming off with a calf issue in the beating of Liverpool, Oleksandr Zinchenko was nowhere to be seen during the six-goal crushing of West Ham. Arteta has remained tight-lipped over his fitness, but given his history of calf problems, it is unclear whether he will be fit to return at Turf Moor.

Gabriel Jesus

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Burnley)

Arteta previously stated that the knee issue which kept Gabriel Jesus out of the win over Liverpool should heal in a matter of days, but having not been passed fit for the derby with the Irons, he will need a once-over ahead of the clash with the Clarets.

Takehiro Tomiyasu

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: International
Possible return date: February 17 (vs. Burnley)

Takehiro Tomiyasu would have been in line to make his comeback from Asian Cup duty against West Ham, only for a "niggle" to rule him out of the contest, but the Japanese defender could recover in time for Saturday's game.

Jurrien Timber

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Jurrien Timber's recovery from an ACL injury is still heading in the right direction, but the Dutchman is still months away from a first-team comeback, which may or may not have to wait until next season.

Thomas Partey

Status: Out
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: Unknown

Thomas Partey has not played for the Gunners since October due to thigh surgery, and he recently suffered a setback after making his return to full training, forcing Arsenal to cope without his services for a little while longer.

Fabio Vieira

Status: Out
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: February 21 (vs. Porto)

Fabio Vieira is still on the mend from groin surgery and will not be available for Saturday's game either, but he is supposedly targeting a return for Arsenal's Champions League last-16 first leg with Porto next week.
