Eddie Howe: 'Bournemouth the stronger team against West Ham United'

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe says that his side were the stronger of the two at the end of their 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Saturday.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has said that his side were the stronger of the two at the end of their 1-1 draw with West Ham United on Saturday.

Cherries midfielder Ryan Fraser opened the scoring on 72 minutes at the London Stadium, before Hammers substitute Javier Hernandez levelled almost immediately after the restart.

Howe has admitted that his side struggled in the opening periods of the game, but praised his team for battling back in the second half.

"We weren't great in the first 20 minutes but we grew as it went on and deservedly scored," the manager told BBC Sport. "We are frustrated at the timing of their goal. Two headers we haven't won and it falls to the lad who taps in.

"We didn't have chance to build on the goal or use it to our advantage. We had a number of counter-attacks where the last pass let us down. We were the stronger team at the end. There is a good feeling about the group.

"This is a tough place to come. This league is difficult. Every point is precious. It could have been three today. There is still work to do."

The result means that Bournemouth are unbeaten in their last five Premier League matches after failing to win any of the previous eight.
