Danny Ings scores twice as Burnley beat Huddersfield Town 3-2 at Turf Moor.

Two goals from Danny Ings helped Burnley to a win against Huddersfield Town that sees them keep in touch with Championship leaders Leicester.

His first goal came after six minutes when a long ball found the England Under-21 international in plenty of space and he calmly slotted the ball past Alex Smithies, his 18th of the campaign.

They came close to a second soon after when Scott Arfield's drive from the edge of the area flew narrowly wide of the post.

Huddersfield pegged the Clarets back on 20 minutes when ex-Burnley player Martin Paterson latched on to Murray Wallace's corner to fire home from close range past the helpless Tom Heaton.

David Jones nearly put the hosts back in front five minutes before the interval when his well-taken free kick came back off the crossbar with the Terriers keeper beaten.

However, Sean Dyche's men did retake the lead 60 seconds later when Kieran Trippier's pinpoint cross found Ings who netted his 19th goal of the season.

Huddersfield looked for a response after the break and almost got back on level terms when Adam Hammill's free kick drifted agonisingly over the bar.

Despite an edgy second half, Burnley made sure of the points with 11 minutes left when full-back Trippier found himself in an advanced position and rounded Smithies before stroking the ball home.

Martin Paterson scored his second of the game in the 89th minute to give Huddersfield hope, but Burnley held on to keep within four points of Championship leaders Leicester who won at Millwall.
