Chelsea defender Reece James has taken to Twitter to state that he hopes the injury he picked up in the Champions League win over AC Milan is not serious.

The Blues claimed a 2-0 victory against Milan on Tuesday, helping them move to the top of their Champions League group with only two matches left to play.

Despite sealing all three points, there was concern following the game about the fitness of James, who was forced off in the 62nd minute through injury.

After the match, James tweeted: "Fingers crossed it's not a bad one. Love for all the messages, I appreciate you all."

Chelsea boss Graham Potter seemed confident that the 24-year-old would not be sidelined for an extended period after telling reporters that he was hopeful the injury was not serious.

Potter said: "We're hoping he'll be ok. We'll need 24 to 48 hours. We'll know more after that."

Chelsea will await news on the extent of James's injury, as will England boss Gareth Southgate with the World Cup only six weeks away. body check tags ::
