Bournemouth and Chelsea played out an entertaining goalless draw in Sunday's Premier League clash at the Vitality Stadium, with both teams missing opportunities to win it.

The Cherries have moved one place in the table, rising to 15th ahead of Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Chelsea stay 14th, having picked up just five points from five matches this season.

Enzo Fernandez had a sight of the Bournemouth goal in just the second minute, but the midfielder's effort was always comfortable for the home side's goalkeeper Neto.

Chelsea came closer less than a minute later, with Mykhaylo Mudryk driving into the Cherries box before delivering into Conor Gallagher, but the midfielder turned over from close range.

The Blues were in again in the 11th minute, but Raheem Sterling fired across goal and there were no takers, with Bournemouth escaping another dangerous moment on home soil.

Nicolas Jackson then sent one against the post in the 13th minute, before Bournemouth had a big chance of their own in the 18th minute, with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez brilliantly denying Dango Ouattara from close range at the far post.

Neto made a super save to keep out a strike from Gallagher in the 33rd minute, before Sanchez denied Ryan Christie down the other end late in the first period.

Chelsea's work in the opening 45 minutes, which was largely impressive until the final action, should have seen them enter the interval with an advantage, but the two teams were all square heading into the half-time break.

The Blues thought that they had taken the lead early in the second period when Levi Colwill converted from close range after Sterling's brilliant free kick had hit the crossbar, but the offside flag was raised.

Sterling was incredibly unlucky not to register with his excellent set piece, which actually bounced on the goal-line and somehow stayed out.

Bournemouth had a chance of their own just before the hour when Thiago Silva took long on the ball inside his own box, but he cleared against Christie and the ball bounced behind.

Chelsea somehow failed to bundle the ball home in the 65th minute, with Colwill involved again; VAR looked at a possible penalty for handball, but the play was allowed to continue.

Smart work from Justin Kluivert presented Dominic Solanke with a chance in the 73rd minute, but the striker failed to make proper contact on the cross.

Bournemouth had another chance in the 78th minute from a free kick just outside the Chelsea box, with Philip Billing's effort being deflected just wide of the post.

Solanke was then denied by Sanchez less than a minute later, before Neto kept out Cole Palmer's strike down the other end; the ball stayed alive, with Ian Maatsen then having a powerful strike charged down.

Both teams had breaks forward in the eight additional minutes of added time, but nether could find the back of the net, with the points being shared at the Vitality Stadium.

Chelsea's search for just their second Premier League win of the season will continue against Aston Villa next Sunday, while Bournemouth will return to action on the same afternoon away to Brighton & Hove Albion.
