Sports Mole previews Saturday's Championship clash between Huddersfield Town and relegation-threatened Barnsley.

Barnsley could climb out of the Championship relegation zone with a victory away to Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Tykes gave their survival hopes a massive boost with a crucial 1-0 victory over Millwall last weekend, leaving them just two points behind the Lions in the table.

They also have the luxury of a game in hand over the four teams immediately above the bottom three, meaning that a second consecutive win would put them in a strong position to stay up.

However, they have not won back-to-back matches in almost a year and would need to improve upon the joint-worst away record in the division if they were to end that unenviable run.

Danny Wilson has only seen his side win once on their travels in the league this season, and no team have amassed fewer points away from home than the measly eight Barnsley have managed.

However, their performances have improved of late and Wilson will be confident that his side can get something out of the game on Saturday.

His confidence will be spurred on by Huddersfield's inconsistent form recently, with the hosts losing six of their last eight matches in all competitions.

The threat of relegation seems too far away for Town to worry about, while the unlikelihood of a late push for the playoffs means that they will settle for a midtable finish this season.

They will want to regain some pride following a Yorkshire derby defeat at the hands of Sheffield Wednesday last Saturday, however, as they failed to score for a second consecutive home game.

Indeed, they have only scored twice in their last five outings at the John Smith's Stadium in all competitions, and top scorer James Vaughan is likely to miss out yet again as he continues to struggle with injury.

Joel Lynch will also miss the game having been ruled out for a month with a groin injury, while Jon Stead remains a doubt for the hosts.
