How Liverpool could line up against Bournemouth

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's EFL Cup fourth-round clash with Bournemouth.

Liverpool attacker Luis Diaz remains a major doubt for Wednesday's EFL Cup fourth-round clash with Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

The South American missed out against Nottingham Forest on Sunday after his parents were kidnapped in his native Colombia, and while his mother is now safe - according to the nation's president - his father remains missing.

While Diaz's dad remains unaccounted for, the winger is unlikely to be considered for selection by Jurgen Klopp, who also has Andrew Robertson (shoulder), Stefan Bajcetic (calf) and Thiago Alcantara (hip) unavailable for the encounter, while Ben Doak (muscle) is doubtful.

On a brighter note, Curtis Jones is now eligible to feature domestically again following a three-match suspension, and the Englishman will certainly be considered for a spot in Klopp's engine room.

On the back of his inspired display against Toulouse, Wataru Endo is also primed to join Jones in the midfield triumvirate, which could be completed by Harvey Elliott if Ryan Gravenberch is deemed in need of a rest.

While Diaz is likely to miss out again, Cody Gakpo could be considered for promotion to the first XI after shaking off a knee problem, potentially in place of Diogo Jota as Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez retain their places.

Further back, Luke Chambers is in line for another start in place of Kostas Tsimikas, while Joe Gomez, Joel Matip and Jarell Quansah may complete a new-look defence ahead of Caoimhin Kelleher.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Kelleher; Gomez, Quansah, Matip, Chambers; Elliott, Endo, Jones; Salah, Nunez, Gakpo body check tags ::
