How Liverpool could line up against Red Bull Salzburg

Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Wednesday's pre-season friendly with Red Bull Salzburg.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could elect to bring Darwin Nunez back into the starting lineup for Wednesday's friendly with Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg.

The Uruguayan striker came off the bench to score four of his side's goals in their recent 5-0 win over RB Leipzig and may now take the place of Roberto Firmino up top.

Joe Gomez was back on the bench on Thursday after shaking off a minor complaint, but Alisson Becker, Diogo Jota and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain are all absent for the Reds.

With Caoimhin Kelleher also not involved in the Austria training camp, Adrian is once again expected to start in goal for Liverpool, who are building up to Saturday's Community Shield encounter with Manchester City.

Trent Alexander-Arnold and Andy Robertson are seemingly set to start out wide, but Joel Matip will hope to displace Ibrahima Konate alongside Virgil van Dijk.

Naby Keita is also eyeing a start against his old club, which could restrict Jordan Henderson to another bench appearance as Thiago Alcantara and Fabinho feature in the middle.

Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz are not expected to be in any danger of losing their places out wide, with Nunez hoping to replicate his extraordinary four-goal feat from the Leipzig win at Austria's Red Bull Arena.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Adrian; Alexander-Arnold, Matip, Van Dijk, Robertson; Keita, Fabinho, Thiago; Salah, Nunez, Diaz body check tags ::
