Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at how Liverpool could line up for Sunday's pre-season friendly with Strasbourg.

Liverpool fans should expect to see Jurgen Klopp field a second-string side for Sunday's pre-season friendly with Strasbourg at Anfield.

The Reds face Manchester City in the Community Shield on Saturday, where most of Klopp's big-hitters are expected to be in action, barring the injured Alisson Becker and Diogo Jota.

Kostas Tsimikas, Calvin Ramsay, Caoimhin Kelleher and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would have expected to earn minutes on Sunday, but the quartet have also been sidelined with various problems in pre-season.

As a result, Adrian will likely be expected for the Community Shield, so Under-23s goalkeeper Liam Hughes could start in the encounter with Strasbourg, with Ibrahima Konate and Sepp van den Berg at centre-back.

The ever-versatile James Milner is an option for the left-back spot, and Joe Gomez may be fit enough to start on the right after overcoming his own physical problem in pre-season.

With a loan move to Blackburn Rovers said to be on hold, Tyler Morton is a candidate for one of the three midfield spots alongside Curtis Jones and Naby Keita.

An exciting attacking line ought to see Harvey Elliott and Fabio Carvalho handed starts, and Darwin Nunez could also be in action if Roberto Firmino is given the nod for the Community Shield.

Liverpool possible starting lineup: Hughes; Gomez, Konate, Van den Berg, Milner; Jones, Morton, Keita; Carvalho, Nunez, Elliott body check tags ::
