Sports Mole rounds up Manchester City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their EFL Cup third-round tie with Bournemouth.

Manchester City face a quick turnaround in fixtures as they prepare to take on Bournemouth in the third round of the EFL Cup on Thursday evening.

The Citizens belatedly kicked off their 2020-21 Premier League campaign with a deserved 3-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

A big meeting with a perfect Leicester City side awaits next weekend, and boss Pep Guardiola has already vowed to play his youngsters in this tie with Bournemouth.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up City's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the midweek match.

Sergio Aguero

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

City's all-time record goalscorer Sergio Aguero has been on the sidelines since undergoing knee surgery towards the end of June. Guardiola revealed last week that Aguero may be out for another two months.

Ilkay Gundogan

Status: Out
Type of injury: Coronavirus
Possible return date: October 3 (vs. Leeds United)

City confirmed on the day of the Wolves game that midfielder Ilkay Gundogan had tested positive for coronavirus. The Germany international is observing a 10-day self-isolation period and will also miss the games with Bournemouth and Leicester.

Aymeric Laporte

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Fitness
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Bournemouth)

Aymeric Laporte and Riyad Mahrez also tested positive for coronavirus earlier this month. Mahrez was back in the matchday squad against Wolves, but Laporte was overlooked for selection and is now working on his fitness after completing a period of isolation.

Bernardo Silva

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Quadriceps
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Bournemouth)

Bernardo Silva sustained a quadriceps injury while representing Portugal during the recent international break. The midfielder missed the Wolves match and his participation in this game is also in doubt.

Eric Garcia

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Facial
Possible return date: September 24 (vs. Bournemouth)

Eric Garcia suffered a head injury last week that required 16 stitches. After sitting out the Wolves match, the Barcelona target is also likely to watch on from the stands against Bournemouth.

Joao Cancelo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Joao Cancelo is another who missed the Wolves game with what Guardiola put down to an ankle injury. Guardiola does not expect the full-back to be in contention until after next month's international break.

Oleksandr Zinchenko

Status: Out
Type of injury: Unknown
Possible return date: Unknown

Guardiola is also expecting to be without another of his full-backs in Oleksandr Zinchenko until next month. It is unknown what injury the Ukraine international has sustained.
