Pep Guardiola: 'I will not change playing style'

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola vows never to change his football philosophy despite seeing his side's winless run extend to three matches.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has insisted that he will never change his style of football.

City enjoyed 72% possession during this afternoon's Premier League clash with Everton, but struggled to find a breakthrough and were ultimately forced to settle for a 1-1 draw at the Etihad Stadium.

The result makes it three games without a win following a draw with Celtic and defeat to Tottenham Hotspur before the international break, but Guardiola is in no doubt that he will stick to his philosophy.

"I'm sorry, never in my life am I going to change the way I want to play football," he told reporters.

"It's the only way I have. I can make mistakes, be judged for many things, but I have only one power - my teams play the way I want. There are storms, problems, but what is nice is to improve on that. We've improved a lot on what happened in Glasgow and Tottenham.

"We created enough chances to win the game, they had one chance. One situation. Sometimes football is beautiful for that reason and sometimes you play bad and win games."

Despite the dropped points, City remain top of the Premier League table after eight games, ahead of Arsenal on goal difference.
