Cristiano Ronaldo's record vs. Everton

Sports Mole looks at Cristiano Ronaldo's record against Everton ahead of Manchester United's Premier League clash with the Toffees.

Cristiano Ronaldo is still looking for his first Premier League goal of the season, with the attacker drawing blanks in his six league outings for Manchester United at the start of the 2022-23 campaign.

The 37-year-old has only been in the starting XI on one occasion in England's top flight this term, though, and he was an unused substitute against Manchester City in the Manchester derby last weekend.

Ronaldo was back in the side against Omonia in the Europa League on Thursday, but he was unable to find the back of the net in his team's 3-2 victory despite having a host of chances.

As a result, it is just the one goal in nine appearances for the Portugal international at club level this term, and he is expected to be back on the bench for the game with Everton on Sunday night.

Ronaldo could still have a telling contribution at Goodison Park, though, and with that in mind, Sports Mole looks at how the attacker has fared against the Toffees in the past.

All 14 of Ronaldo's appearances against Everton have come during his two spells at Man United, and he has a strong record versus the Toffees, recording eight wins, four draws and suffering just the two defeats.

The forward has found the back of the net on five occasions against the Merseyside outfit in all competitions, in addition to providing three assists.

Twelve of his appearances against Everton came during his first spell at Man United, while he tackled them twice in the Premier League during the 2021-22 campaign, having returned to the club from Juventus.

Ronaldo came off the bench in the 1-1 draw with the Toffees at Old Trafford towards the start of last season, but he played the full 90 minutes of the 1-0 defeat at Goodison Park.

The Portuguese's Premier League record against Everton is won seven, drawn four and lost two, scoring four times and providing two assists.

Arguably his best performance against the Toffees came during the 2007-08 campaign, when he scored a brace in a 2-1 success for Sir Alex Ferguson's side at Old Trafford.

The former Sporting Lisbon youngster has actually never scored against Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League, but he netted against them away from home in the fifth round of the FA Cup in 2004-05, with the Red Devils recording a 2-0 victory.

Ronaldo's four Premier League strikes against the Merseyside club have come at Old Trafford, so he could create some personal history if he manages to register on Sunday.

Before last season, his only defeat against the Toffees was at Goodison Park during the 2004-05 Premier League campaign, but he could not prevent the Red Devils from going down 1-0 in the same stadium last term, with Anthony Gordon scoring the only goal of the match.

Ronaldo's last victory at Goodison Park was actually back in September 2007, with Nemanja Vidic's header proving to be the difference between the two sides. body check tags ::
