Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United: Head-to-head record and past meetings

:Headline: Crystal Palace vs. Manchester United: Head-to-head record and past meetings:
Ahead of Monday's Premier League clash between Crystal Palace and Manchester United, Sports Mole looks at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two clubs.

Manchester United will be bidding to avoid an unwanted first when they head to Selhurst Park on Monday evening to tackle Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

Indeed, Palace are bidding to complete a league double over the 20-time English champions for the first time in history, with the Eagles winning 1-0 at Old Trafford back in September.

Man United are eighth in the Premier League table, two points behind sixth-placed Newcastle United, while Palace occupy 14th spot, four points behind 13th-placed Fulham.

Both sides will enter the match off the back of 1-1 draws, with Man United sharing the spoils with Burnley at Old Trafford, while Palace earned a point at Fulham.

Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between the two sides ahead of what is shaping up to be a very interesting match.

Head-to-head record

Previous meetings: 59
Crystal Palace wins: 10
Draws: 12
Man Utd wins: 37

Man United have, unsurprisingly, dominated this fixture throughout the years, leading the head-to-head record with 37 wins to Palace's 10, while there have also been 12 draws in their 59 fixtures.

The Red Devils have scored 102 times in this match-up, while Palace have 50 goals to their name, and two ex-Man United forwards are the joint-leading goalscorers in matches between the two sides, with Denis Law and Mark Hughes both registering six times against the London club.

Man United have also dominated the Premier League meetings, posting 19 wins to Palace's four, while there have also been six draws in their 29 matches.

Palace, as mentioned, recorded a 1-0 win at Old Trafford in the reverse match earlier this season, and a victory on Monday night would give them their first-ever league double over the Red Devils.

The Eagles have actually been victorious in two of their last four league games with Man United, suffering only one loss in the process, which came at Old Trafford last season.

Man United's last league success at Selhurst Park came in July 2020, when they recorded a 2-0 victory, with Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the scoresheet.

The Red Devils won eight of their opening 11 away Premier League fixtures with Palace but are now winless in their last three, including a 1-1 draw at Selhurst Park last term.

Man United have already beaten Palace this season, recording a 3-0 success in the third round of the EFL Cup, just four days before suffering a 1-0 loss to the same opponents in the league.

The pair also locked horns in the FA Cup final back in May 2016, with the 20-time English champions recording a 2-1 victory after extra-time to secure the trophy at Wembley Stadium.
