Marcus Rashford, Bruno Fernandes and Casemiro have been named in the Manchester United XI for tonight's EFL Cup clash with Burnley at Old Trafford.

The trio were involved for their countries at the 2022 World Cup but have been sent straight back into action for their club, while Tyrell Malacia and Christian Eriksen are also included after their involvement in the Qatar tournament.

Martin Dubravka gets the nod between the sticks, with David de Gea on the bench, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka is given a rare start at right-back due to Diogo Dalot's absence through injury.

Harry Maguire had been tipped to start alongside Victor Lindelof at the back, but the club captain is not in the squad due to illness, so Casemiro will operate at the back, with Lisandro Martinez and Raphael Varane both out due to their involvement in the World Cup final.

Anthony Martial was not included in the France squad for the World Cup, and he has now overcome his fitness problems, so the 27-year-old leads the line.

Alejandro Garnacho scored the winner against Fulham in the Premier League last time out, and the teenager is rewarded with a start on the left of the front three, with Rashford set to start on the other side.

Luke Shaw, Fred, Antony and Facundo Pellistri, who were also involved in the World Cup, are on the bench alongside young centre-back Rhys Bennett.

The winner of Wednesday's contest will advance to the quarter-finals of the competition.

MANCHESTER UNITED: Dubravka; Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Casemiro, Malacia; Eriksen, McTominay, Fernandes; Rashford, Martial, Garnacho

Subs: De Gea, Bennett, Shaw, Williams, Fred, Van de Beek, Antony, Elanga, Pellistri body check tags ::
