How Manchester United could line up against Burnley

Ahead of Wednesday's Premier League game between Manchester United and Burnley, Sports Mole looks at how the hosts could line up at Old Trafford.

Manchester United take on Burnley in the Premier League on Wednesday night looking to improve on a run of two defeats in three top-flight fixtures.

Despite remaining just five points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has watched his side lose at Arsenal and Liverpool since the turn of the year.

The Norwegian is also having to cope with a lengthy injury list, which has increased with Marcus Rashford being ruled out for the foreseeable future due to a back injury.

Here, Sports Mole predicts how United could line up for the showdown with the Clarets at Old Trafford.

Out: Scott McTominay (knee), Paul Pogba (ankle), Marcus Rashford (back), Marcos Rojo (calf), Axel Tuanzebe (hamstring)

Having only been used as a late substitute at Anfield on Sunday afternoon, Mason Greenwood is likely to be recalled to the starting lineup.

While the youngster is likely to feature on one of the flanks, Solskjaer may consider using him down the middle, leading to Anthony Martial moving out to the left.

Brandon Williams occupied that position against Liverpool, although the academy graduate is expected to drop back into his more familiar left-back role on Wednesday.

After failing to make an impact in the last game, Andreas Pereira's place in the side may be up for grabs, with Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata both in contention.

Given his showing versus Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Cup last week, the latter should get the nod, providing that Solskjaer does not deploy him on the wing.

The remainder of the first XI should remain the same, with Eric Bailly having to stay patient in his wait for a return to action after a serious knee injury.
