Falkirk are leading Queen of the South 1-0 in today's Scottish Premiership playoff first leg at Palmerston Park, thanks to Blair Alston's early goal.

Falkirk are currently leading Queen of the South 1-0 in today's Scottish Premiership playoff first leg at Palmerston Park.

Mark Beck had the first chance of the game when he connected with a cross from Will Vaulks after just two minutes, before Derek Lyle's effort for the home team was comfortably saved by Michael McGovern.

The deadlock was broken after just eight minutes, when Blair Alston powered a shot past Zander Clark to give the Bairns the lead.

The away side continued to press after their goal, with Scott Shepherd and Clark coming close just a few minutes later.

Midway through the first half, Falkirk could have made it two, but David McCracken's header flew past the post.
