Sports Mole previews Tuesday's Chinese Super League clash between Cangzhou Mighty Lions and Tianjin Jinmen Tiger, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

Still yet to suffer defeat in the 2023 Chinese Super League season, Tianjin Jinmen Tiger visit the Cangzhou Stadium on Tuesday to face off against Cangzhou Mighty Lions.

Meanwhile, the home side head into the one aiming to return to winning ways having had to settle for a share of the spoils in their last outing.

Match preview

Cangzhou showed great resolve to secure a point from their meeting against Qingdao Hainiu at the Qingdao Youth Football Stadium, which ended in a 1-1 draw on Friday.

Zhao Junzhe's men fell behind to Wenjie Song's opener just past the hour mark and looked set to come away empty-handed before Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere levelled matters 10 minutes from time.

As a result, the Mighty Lions remain 10th in the Chinese Super League table, a whopping six points adrift of a place in the top half midway through the season.

Coming up next is the challenge of an opposing outfit who are unbeaten in the most recent four editions of this fixture over the last 18 months.

Fresh from ending a two-game losing streak on home turf in their last home outing, Tuesday's hosts now go in search of consecutive wins in front of their fans for the first time in over a year.

Tianjin Jinmen failed to pick up a fourth straight victory across all competitions in a 1-1 stalemate against Nantong Zhiyun at the Olympic Sports Center Stadium.

Yu Genwei's men conceded a second-half opener from Kang Cao five minutes after the interval before Weijun Xie restored parity in stoppage time.

With 27 points picked up from their 15 league matches so far, the Tigers sit fourth in the standings, seven points behind division leaders Shanghai Port.

Having let in just one goal across their last four away matches, Tuesday's visitors will be confident of keeping their hosts at bay en route to another positive result on the road.

Team News

Deabeas Owusu-Sekyere has found the back of the net in three of his last four outings for Cangzhou, making him one to keep a close watch on here.

Shihao Piao is expected to feature in midfield for the home side once again after shaking off an injury scare to retain his place in the XI against Qingdao.

Weijun Xie came off the bench to good effect for Tianjin Jinmen last time out, and the 25-year-old could be rewarded with a starting berth in this one.

Farley Rosa remains sidelined for the away side through a muscle problem, which will see the Brazilian sit out a second consecutive match.

Cangzhou Mighty Lions possible starting lineup:
Shao; Liu, Zheng, Yang; Piao, Lin, Zhukov, Sun; Maritu, Locadia, Owusu-Sekyere

Tianjin Jinmen Tiger possible starting lineup:
Xu; Ming, Yang, Andujar, Su; Gao, Wang, Guo, Merida, Ba; Beric

We say: Cangzhou Mighty Lions 0-1 Tianjin Jinmen Tiger

In a game that sees two of the lowest-scoring sides in the top 10 go head-to-head, we are anticipating a tight affair with little goalmouth action at either end. That said, we are tipping the visitors to narrowly come out on top.
