Sports Mole previews Tuesday's League One clash between Wycombe Wanderers and Port Vale, including predictions, team news and possible lineups.
Sports Mole

After picking up a point from their last two games, Wycombe Wanderers will look to return to winning ways when they play host to Port Vale on Tuesday.

The visitors, meanwhile, will have the chance to claim consecutive victories after beating Lincoln City 1-0 at the weekend.

Match preview

After winning three consecutive league games, Wycombe have lost 3-2 to Cambridge and played out a 1-1 draw against Morecambe at the weekend.

Chris Forino-Joseph gave the Chairboys a first-half lead on Saturday, but they were ultimately denied all three points following Adam Mayor's 82nd-minute equaliser.

As a result of the point, Wycombe head into Tuesday's contest in 13th position, with six points separating them from the playoff places.

Having lost only one of their previous five matches in League One, Gareth Ainsworth's side will at least be confident of claiming a positive result.

Although, their recent home form does not offer too much inspiration, with their last four home league games yielding only one victory.

Meanwhile, Port Vale are one point better off than their hosts, and they will also be looking to move closer to the top six with a win on Tuesday.

Like their opponents, Darrell Clarke's side have only lost one of their last five league games, although they manage to claim all three points in their most recent encounter.

Port Vale played host to Lincoln on Saturday, and in a closely-fought contest, Daniel Butterworth's 68th-minute strike proved to be the winning goal.

After recording a home victory, Port Vale will now head on their travels where they will attempt to continue their impressive away form.

In their last two away games, they have beaten Derby County and Cambridge United, and they will have the chance to clinch a third consecutive away victory on Tuesday.

Team News

After scoring for Wycombe at the weekend, Forino-Joseph's main priority will be on his defensive duties when he features in a back three with Alfie Mawson and Joe Jacobson.

Lewis Wing and Nick Freeman are expected to continue their midfield partnership, with Ainsworth set to name an unchanged lineup.

Sam Vokes will lead the line for the hosts, and the forward will be looking to add to the three goals that he has scored this season.

As for the visitors, they could make a few changes after Clarke rotated his side for Saturday's 1-0 win over Lincoln.

Connor Hall may return to the starting lineup to feature alongside Dan Jones and Lewis Cass in the Port Vale defence.

Meanwhile, Sam Robinson is set to operate on the right wing, while Tom Conlon could partner Tom Pett in central midfield.

Wycombe Wanderers possible starting lineup:
Stryjek; Forino-Jospeh, Mawson, Jacobson; McCarthy, Freeman, Wing, Obita; Mehmeti, McCleary; Vokes

Port Vale possible starting lineup:
Stevens; Jones, Cass, Hall; Robinson, Conlon, Pett, Benning; Butterworth, Harrison, Odubeko

We say: Wycombe Wanderers 2-2 Port Vale

With the two teams separated by a point and proving hard to beat, we think that both sides will have to settle for a point apiece on Tuesday.
