Sam Warburton: 'Wales must keep momentum going'

Sam Warburton targets victory over Australia in Wales's final Pool A fixture in the hope of keeping momentum alive heading into the final eight of the Rugby World Cup.

Wales captain Sam Warburton has admitted that his side are 'hugely motivated' to see off Australia in their final pool-stage fixture in order to keep the momentum alive.

The Red Dragons have already secured a place in the knockout stages of the Rugby World Cup, but victory at Twickenham on Saturday will see them claim top spot.

A meeting with South Africa awaits the losing side in the final eight, but Warburton insists that making it four wins from four in the showpiece competition is all that counts right now.

"It's two squads of 23 on the day and it's anyone's game," he is quoted as saying by Wales Online. "I think they are favourites but it doesn't bother me what the bookies think. Favourites, underdogs and odds are irrelevant at the knock-out stages of a World Cup.

"It's two evenly matched teams. We want to finish top of the pool to say we won four out of four," said the man who led the Lions against Australia in 2013. Out of the last 10 matches we've only lost one so we've got a good winning streak at the moment and it would be good to keep the momentum going.

"It's a huge motivation to finish top and avoid a southern hemisphere draw but I don't think the boys mind either way. There's no easy way to win a World Cup. It would be great to win this weekend."

Saturday's winner will face either Scotland or Japan at the quarter-final stage of the World Cup.
