Matt Bryant kicked two field goals to give the Atlanta Falcons a narrow 6-3 lead over the Carolina Panthers in a low-scoring first half to the NFC South clash at Bank of America Stadium.
The Panthers gifted possession away early in the first quarter when Cam Newton's pass was deflected and picked off by Kemal Ishmael for an interception.
Atlanta were unable to take advantage, however, and it was the Panthers who opened the scoring at the start of the second quarter when Graham Gano converted a 23-yard field goal.
The Falcons hit back to level things courtesy of a 34-yard kick from Bryant, who added a 42-yard effort in the dying stages of the half to nudge his side ahead at the break.
