A touchdown from Derek Carrier is the difference between the Washington Redskins and the Atlanta Falcons at the break in their NFL clash as Jay Gruden's men hold a 7-3 lead.
The Falcons had early success moving the ball, but their drive was to end when Matt Ryan was intercepted by Trenton Robinson as he overthrew his deep pass for Julio Jones. However, the visitors could not capitalise on the mistake in a scoreless first quarter.
Washington took the lead early in the second when a gamble on fourth down and one in the redzone paid off as Kirk Cousins got the necessary yardage to keep his side's drive alive. The quarterback then found Derek Carrier in the endzone for a four-yard score.
Matt Bryant got his side on the board with a field goal from 42 yards and the Falcons had another chance to reduce the deficit.
However, Ryan committed his second turnover of the game when his side were in good field position as he was sacked by Jason Hatcher and the Redskins recovered the ball.
The home side got the ball back again just before the break, but Bryant failed to fire his kick between the posts as his effort from 38 yards struck the woodwork.
