Atlanta Falcons defensive line coach Bryan Cox has revealed that his side have to generate more pressure on opposing quarterbacks next season.

The Falcons were 30th overall in the NFL in sacks last season registering just 32 in their 16 games, while their overall defense ranked 27th in total yards.

"If you can make the quarterback move his feet and get him off the spot, a lot of times that creates errant throws and that creates interceptions, turnovers and panic," Cox told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

"So, I would agree that sacks are not necessarily always the thing you strive for. I think the biggest thing is that you want to affect the quarterback. You want to make him know and understand and feel that you're are around at all times."

Cox was hired by the Falcons in January following their 4-12 season.
