Carolina Panthers wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin will miss the entire season with an anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The 24-year-old scored 15 touchdowns in his rookie year, and was set to become the Panthers' number one receiver in 2015.
However, he will now undergo surgery on the injury, which he suffered in practice this morning.
General manager Dave Gettlemen said in a statement: "Obviously, we feel awful for Kelvin. He's worked tremendously hard to put himself in a position to have a strong year.
"We're confident he will attack his surgery and rehab with the same determination he has met all challenges before."
Benjamin was the 28th pick in the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
