Jay Cutler threw two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to guide the Chicago Bears to a 18-17 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
Neither side were able to score on their first possession of the game, but the Chiefs' defense got their side on the board when Allen Bailey burst through the line to sack Cutler, who spilled the ball and Ramik Wilson reacted to gather for the touchdown.
The Bears rallied to drive into the Chiefs' half of the field, but the home side made enough of a stand to force a field-goal attempt from John Fox's men. Robbie Gould got the visitors on the board by firing his 44-yard kick through the posts.
Kansas City extended their lead early in the second quarter when Alex Smith fired the ball out wide to DeAnthony Thomas, who got behind blocks from his wideouts to run into the endzone untouched.
The Chiefs extended their lead just before the break when Smith drove his team into field-goal range and Cairo Santos made no mistake drilling his strike between the posts from 35 yards.
In the second half, Andy Reid's men suffered a huge blow when running back Jamaal Charles was forced from the field with an apparent knee injury, and matters got worse for them as Santos's field goal from close range was blocked.
The Bears came back into the game when Cutler drove his team into the redzone, but he failed to connect with any of his targets for a touchdown, leaving Gould to fire a 30-yard field goal through the posts.
Cutler pulled his side within five points when he looped the ball over the head of the Chiefs cornerbacks and Marquess Wilson made the grab for a 22-yard score.
Chicago's defense made a crucial stop to keep their side in the game, and Cutler delivered once again for his team when he handled a poor snap and sent the ball over the top for Matt Forte for the touchdown.
There was still time for the Chiefs to attempt a late field goal, but Santos's effort from 66 yards went wide and short, which secured the win for the visitors.
