Tony Romo sympathises with injured foe Aaron Rodgers

Tony Romo says that Aaron Rodgers will be doing "everything that he can" to get himself fit as he continues his bid to return from a broken collarbone.

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has stated that he knows how Green Bay Packers opposite number Aaron Rodgers must feel, having to watch his team from the sidelines.

Rodgers has been out of action since breaking his collarbone during the week nine loss to the Chicago Bears, and is unlikely to make his comeback when his side meet the Cowboys this Sunday.

Romo suffered the same injury himself back in 2010, resulting in him missing the final 10 matches of the regular season.

He told reporters: "It's very difficult. Obviously, the discomfort - if you're feeling it at all - you can't come back and play, but even than that, even when you get relatively where you feel like it's pain free, it still doesn't mean you're ready to play just because it's such an easy thing to hurt again.

"There's just so many cases of people come down with another collarbone injury, the same one just re-injuring it. That really plays a big role in determining when you come back.

"It's an injury that you almost have to wait longer than when you're initially diagnosed, typically because it's just the re-injury factor alone plays such a high role. I remember I was doing everything I could to get back out there. I know Aaron's doing the same thing. If he's been feeling good for a couple of weeks then I think that's something where you could really have a chance to say his re-injury factor has gone down and if that's the case you might be able to go."

The Packers finally won their first game without Rodgers when they pipped the Atlanta Falcons last Sunday.
