Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay has backed wide receiver Reggie Wayne to fight back from his season-ending ACL injury.
Wayne suffered the injury during the fourth quarter of his side's 39-33 win over the Denver Broncos on Sunday when he tried to come back for an underthrown Andrew Luck pass.
The injury will end the 34-year-old's streak of playing in 189 consecutive games - the most among active players - but Irsay believes that Wayne will work harder than ever to return to fitness.
"Had a long cry with Reggie....now he's gonna do what Reggie does...out work everybody and fight n work his way back!" Irsay wrote on Twitter.
The Colts are now 5-2 for the season and sit top of the AFC South.
