The Miami Dolphins have confirmed that they have placed defensive backs Dimitri Patterson and RJ Stanford on their injured reserve list.
Patterson has been struggling with a groin injury all season which has limited him to start in just six games, but the ailment is now so severe that the Dolphins have ended his campaign.
Stanford sustained a broken leg in his side's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers and the injury will force him to miss the rest of the year as he has also been placed on IR.
As a result of the injuries, Joe Philbin's side have signed free agent defensive back Justin Rogers and Michael Thomas from the practice squad of the San Francisco 49ers.
The Dolphins face the New England Patriots in week 15.
