Adrian Peterson has said that the Minnesota Vikings' defense "stepped up" during their 34-27 win over the Washington Redskins last night.
The running back rushed for 75 yards and scored a touchdown during the team's second win of the season, while the defense claimed four sacks.
The 2012 MVP told reporters: "It was an awesome feeling, the defense stepped up and made plays when we needed them to make plays to get that W.
"Through the adversity that we have been through guys continue to fight. It showed tonight that when you continue to believe and have faith and go out there and continue to swing no matter what, you can come out on top."
The Vikings will have a 10-day break before facing the Seattle Seahawks next Sunday.
