Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson is a doubt for Sunday's match against the Philadelphia Eagles with a foot injury.
Peterson was injured in the third quarter of the Vikings' dramatic 29-26 defeat to the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, leaving the game to watch on from the sidelines as his side were beaten in the dying seconds after an incredible final quarter.
The reigning NFL MVP had an MRI scan on his foot yesterday and was told that he would not require surgery, having avoided a Lisfranc injury.
However, the mid-foot sprain is serious enough to leave Peterson's participation against the Eagles in doubt, according to reports.
Peterson was the leading rusher in the NFL going into Sunday's match but has since been overtaken by Philadelphia's LeSean McCoy, who ran for a franchise-record 217 yards during the Eagles' win over the Detroit Lions.
