The New England Patriots will not pick up the option to extend cornerback Darrelle Revis's contract into the 2015 season, according to a report.
Bill Belichick's men signed Revis on a two-year deal worth up to $32m (£21.2m) following his release by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers last year.
However, the deal included a $20m (£13.2m) option for the 2015 campaign, which also put Revis's cap number at $25m ($16.5m), over a fifth of the space available for the team's entire roster.
The Patriots have informed the 29-year-old and his representatives that they will not be picking up the option, making him a free agent on Tuesday, but the parties are still working towards a new long-term deal, reports ESPN.
The New York Jets are said to be interested in taking Revis back to their franchise after he enjoyed a successful six-season spell with the club from 2007-12.
