New York Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez is recovering from a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, according to reports.

Mark Sanchez has been diagnosed with a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder, according to reports.

NFL.com reports that the New York Jets quarterback met with surgeon Dr James Andrews yesterday, but has chosen not to have an operation at this stage.

In a text to ESPN, the 26-year-old said: "If I needed surgery right now, I never would have left Andrews's office. I would've stayed and got the surgery."

Sanchez sustained the injury during the team's pre-season game against the New York Giants.
