Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor is not getting carried away after being told that he will start against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.

Oakland Raiders quarterback Terrelle Pryor has played down the significance of being told that he will make his first start of the pre-season against the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday.

Pryor is currently regarded as the franchise's number two quarterback behind Matt Flynn, although some impressive performances in pre-season have led some to call for him to start ahead of Flynn.

Raiders coach Dennis Allen has decided to give the 24-year-old a chance from the start on Thursday, but Pryor is not getting carried and insists that he is by no means the finished article yet.

"That's my goal, to be a starting quarterback and to lead a team to wins. I won't stop until it happens. Until it happens and keeps on happening, I'll keep on pushing," Pryor told The Associated Press.

"Coach told me what the deal was, that Matt wasn't playing on Friday and he wanted me to jump with the first team and lead them into Seattle. I'm definitely not all the way there in terms of the playbook and in terms of just being a quarterback out there.

"Don't get me wrong, I can lead if I was called upon to do it. I'm just out there getting better and trying to get in synch with the guys."

Pryor has only made one start in his NFL career so far, appearing in the Raiders' final regular season game last year.
