The Oakland Raiders stun the San Francisco 49ers with a shock 24-13 victory to put a major dent in Jim Harbaugh's side's playoff aspirations.

The Oakland Raiders have put a massive dent in the playoff hopes of the San Francisco 49ers as they pulled off a shock 24-13 win in their NFL clash.

The Raiders were the first side to get on the scoreboard as they took advantage of a Colin Kaepernick interception by Brandian Ross, and after a failed attempt to get into the endzone by their offense Sebastian Janikowski fired them ahead with a field goal.

Jim Harbaugh's men hit back at the end of the first quarter when Kaepernick fired the ball to his full-back Bruce Miller in the flat and he ran into the endzone to score an eight-yard touchdown to hand his side the lead.

Oakland weren't deterred by the response of the 49ers as quarterback Derek Carr led his side into the redzone and allowed Latavius Murray to put them on goalline, before he faked the handoff to the back and fired a strike to tackle Donald Penn for a one-yard score.

The 49ers levelled the scores just before the break as Kaepernick managed to move his side just into the range of Phil Dawson, who fired a 52-yarder through the posts.

After the break, the visitors managed to take the lead as Kaepernick found his passing rhythm to guide his side downfield and deep into Raiders' territory. However, they were forced to settle for a field goal from the boot of Dawson from close range.

The Raiders responded with a touchdown drive as Carr showed good patience in the pocket to deliver the ball accurately to his receivers before he fired to Marcel Reece on a slant route for a nine-yard score to retake the ascendency.

Tony Sparano's men extended their advantage as Carr notched his third touchdown strike of the game when he found Mychal Rivera in the endzone at the start of the fourth quarter.

San Francisco tried to rally themselves but the Raiders defense was playing tough football, especially on third down to restrict Kaepernick's offense. Matters got worse for the 49ers when Dawson missed a 47-yard field goal, which would have brought his side within eight points.

The visitors' fate was all but sealed when Kaepernick fired downfield looking for Michael Crabtree, but Charles Woodson made the interception to ice the match, which allowed the Raiders' offense to kill the clock to secure their second win of the season.
