The Pittsburgh Steelers have explained why Isaac Redman was allowed to return to the field on September 16 against Cincinnati Bengals despite having suffered a concussion.
The Steelers said that Redman was thoroughly examined off the field but the player made it clear that he could and wanted to continue.
"Isaac was taken out of the game, and we announced that he was being evaluated for a concussion," the Steelers said in a statement.
"He was then taken through the proper protocol by our medical staff and it was deemed he was cleared to return to action after multiple examinations.
"He then re-entered the game and saw action shortly thereafter and throughout the rest of the game."
The running back has made just 12 yards in 10 carries so far this season.
