San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York has conceded that the team's 19-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday night was "unacceptable".
The 49ers fell to 7-5 for the season after the defeat to their divisional rivals, further complicating their push for the playoffs.
"Thank you #49ersfaithful for coming out strong tonight," York tweeted. "This performance wasn't acceptable. I apologize for that."
Coach Jim Harbaugh insisted that he did not see the message, conceding that the Seahawks played better than his team on the night.
San Francisco face the Oakland Raiders next before taking on Seattle again on December 14, followed by a game against their NFC West rivals the Arizona Cardinals.
