San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick believes that taking a timeout with his side at the five-yard line against the Baltimore Ravens cost his team the Super Bowl last year.
The 49ers could have taken a late lead in the game as they drove downfield with less then a minute on the clock, but on a third and goal play with the game clock running down, head coach Jim Harbaugh called a timeout to stop Kaepernick from snapping the ball.
"There was one play we had that we had called a timeout on that I think would have walked in, and the play clock was running down so we called a timeout," Kaepernick told Grantland.com.
"It would have been close, but I think we might have been able to get that play off."
San Francisco missed on Super Bowl XLVIII as they llost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC championship game.
