Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll is optimistic that wide receiver Percy Harvin will be fit in time for the Super Bowl on February 2.

Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll has revealed that wide receiver Percy Harvin "should" be fit to play in the Super Bowl.

Harvin has featured just twice for the Seahawks all season, missing much of the campaign with a hip injury before being ruled out of Sunday's NFC championship win over the San Francisco 49ers with concussion.

The 25-year-old still needs to undergo a few more tests due to NFL concussion protocol, but Carroll is confident that he will be able to practice this week ahead of next Sunday's showpiece event.

"We practice on Wednesday and there's a very good chance he will practice, based on how he was over the weekend," Carroll told reporters.

"He was in pretty good shape on the weekend. He still has to go through a couple of clearances, but we're kind of counting on him to be ready.

"I think he should be, but what do I know? I have to check with the doctors. But [Harvin returning] is kind of what I'm hoping."

The Seahawks will face the Denver Broncos in what is being forecast as the coldest Super Bowl in history.
