Jacksonville Jaguars strike late to down Tennessee Titans

Jacksonville Jaguars leave it late to come from behind and beat AFC South bottom side Tennessee Titans.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have scored 10 points in the final four minutes of play to beat the Tennessee Titans in the all-AFC South clash at EverBank Field and secure back-to-back wins for the first time since 2013.

AFC South bottom side Titans had not won a game in their own division since beating the Jags in October 2014, a run of six games, but they got on the scoreboard from their first drive when Ryan Succop kicked from 47 yards after the home side's defence had stopped Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota.

Both teams were frustrated in their attempts to drive towards the endzone in the first quarter, as Titans forced Jaguars into a three-and-out on their first drive before good coverage from Johnathan Cyprien returned the favour minutes later.

Jaguars ended the first 15 with a key redzone third down, but they were foiled as they searched for a six-pointer and had to settle for a Jason Myers field goal, before Titans retook the lead through a 49-yard kick from Succop.

Josh Evans thought that he had scored the game's first touchdown on a fumble return but Marotia's pass was ruled incomplete as both sides struggled to convert redzone opportunities, and Brian Orakpo recorded a sack for the fourth game in a row as Jags were again limited to a field goal to level the scores once more before half time.

The Jaguars' struggles were summed up when they immediately handed 10 yards back to the Titans with a holding call on Marcedes Lewis after Jurrell Casey had been penalised for taunting, and they went 0 for 3 in the red zone on the night when they were held up again by the Titans defence.

They did convert the field goal to take a 9-6 lead, but a touchdown finally arrived with a little over five minutes remaining in the third when Mariota faked a handoff to sprint home from 23 yards to put Titans ahead 13-9.

Titans tried to kill the game off but were held up after going for six from the fourth down, and Succop missed the chance to extend the lead to seven with a 53-yard field goal, before the game changed on a big play with just three-and-a-half minutes remaining.

After Daimion Stafford saved a touchdown for the Titans, Jags rookie wide receiver Rashad Green punted a 63-yard return to the Titans' five and Julius Thomas was found for a five-yard touchdown pass to put Jacksonville back in front.

Jaguars had to settle for a 36-yard Myers field goal to extend the lead to six points after they were held up at the fourth, but it was enough to secure their fourth win of the season and condemn their opponents to a seventh straight AFC South defeat.
