Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III has insisted that he and Jay Gruden will work together to make the team successful.
The Redskins struggled last season and won just four games while Gruden was heavily critical of Griffin III, who threw just four touchdowns in nine games.
However, Griffin III has emphasised that their relationship is strong and he is optimistic ahead of the new season.
He told CSN Washington: "We both want to win. Jay came in here with the plan to help develop me as a quarterback, and help this team win. He wants me to go out there and be the quarterback he knows I can be, and I will be."
He added: "My job is not to characterise or judge him as a coach. We're going to make sure we work together in a positive way to make sure this team is successful. We're going to win. That's all we can do."
Griffin III has thrown 40 touchdowns in his career so far.
