Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan has expressed his disappointment at allegations of verbal abuse aimed at one of his players from umpire Roy Ellison.
Left tackle Trent Williams accused Ellison of shouting and swearing at him during the Redskins' 24-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
"I feel very strongly about the words that were used to our players because you have a number of players that said they heard it," Shanahan told reporters.
"So I'm disappointed in what had happened but that's probably all I can discuss at this point. You just really can't use that type of language to get your point across."
The Redskins' defeat left them bottom of the NFC East with a 3-7 record for the season.
