Andy Turner admits that he is 'devastated' and considering retiring at the end of the season after crashing out in the heats of the 110m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games.

Andy Turner has admitted that he is 'devastated' to have crashed out of the 110m hurdles at the Commonwealth Games in what could be his final season.

The 33-year-old defending champion made a "schoolboy error" in this morning's heats, hitting the first hurdle hard, losing his balance and having to pull up.

Turner has confessed that his early elimination is doubly difficult to accept because he is considering retiring at the end of the year. However, he does hope to have a final swansong at next month's European Championships.

He told reporters: "This is one of the most devastating days. I'll go to the Europeans, but I've been thinking about calling it a day for a while.

"This could be my last season. I've had a good innings and been around for 10 years. I do feel well in myself, but there comes a time when you start thinking about other things."

Turner's England teammates Will Sharman and Lawrence Clarke both qualified for tonight's final.
